Certificate of Origin
A Certificate of Origin (CO) is a document stating that goods exported in a shipment have been wholly obtained, produced, manufactured and/or processed in a particular country. The information required for a certificate of origin is essentially a mirror of the commercial invoice. The Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce will “seal” the documents, attesting the information contained in the documents is correct to the best of our knowledge. This service is available to Members and businesses within the Chilliwack trade area only.
As of January 2019, the Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce as a matter of policy and for reasons of liability, will now require that all documents presented to us must be notarized before the Chamber certifies them. Freight Forwarders/Exporters that frequently use our services often find the notarization process costly and time consuming; an alternative to notarization of these documents is through a “Letter of Waiver”.
If you are not a member in good standing of the Chilliwack Chamber Chamber of Commerce, in addition to notarization, the Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce also requires a copy of your organization’s business registration and confirmation of annual business license renewal to be presented before we will sign.
You will find a link to the template below. This letter MUST BE TYPED and COMPLETED ON YOUR COMPANY’S LETTERHEAD and MUST BE SIGNED AND SEALED BY A NOTARY OR COMMISSIONER OF OATHS.
Please only use the templates provided as other letters will not be accepted. The letter will then be kept on file for a maximum of two years. If any of the signing authorities change a new letter must be brought in to the Chamber office before documents will be stamped.
We thank you for your cooperation regarding document certification. If you have any further questions or would like further details, please contact Leanna Kemp, Executive Director.
Please bring two, signed, original copies of the certificate with pertaining invoices.
