Support Local BC
Many of our local small businesses have been severely impacted due to COVID-19; some have been able to pivot their operations to stay in business, while others have had to temporarily close their doors. In response to this, the Chilliwack Economic Recovery Network banded together to support these local companies so that when things get back to the new normal they will be able to reopen their businesses and be better than they were before. This is your opportunity to be a part of the “Support Local Chilliwack” campaign and make a difference to small business in Chilliwack.
Did you know that approximately 77% of all jobs are created in the private sector and that the largest number of small- and medium-size businesses are in the wholesale and retail sector? The businesses listed here have committed to providing our community with unique places to visit and products to buy as well as draw tourism to our town.
68% of what small businesses earn is reinvested in our local community. Help build our future economy today!

The Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce and a collective of Community Leaders and volunteers is proud to present the Inaugural“Chilliwack Together Give- A- Thon”. This event will take place on June 10th, 2020 from 9am-9pm and feature both live and pre-recorded content. The concept; “Give where you Live”!
We are very excited to be hosting this fun-filled day of giving! This initiative portrays the very heart of Chilliwack; one of Kindness, Giving, Paying it Forward, Volunteerism and an overall sense gratitude as we work together to help our participating and fundamental non-profit organizations.
The Give-A-Thon was created to fill fundraising shortfalls due to events and other activities cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. As you can imagine, we have been overwhelmed with requests from various groups and feel the need to provide clarity regarding the organizations participating and receiving funds from this event.
Funds raised during the Give-A-Thon will be administered to support organizations that work directly to provide Basic Needs – food, water, shelter and security – for vulnerable and/or needy citizens in our community (reference: Maslow’s hierarchy of needs). These basic physiological needs are the key things the Give-A-Thon committee feels the need to address during this COVID-19 pandemic.
At the same time, we certainly recognize the incredible work done by so many deserving organizations and service groups in our community. Although we would love to be able to support all valued organizations in Chilliwack, the funds raised will not be diverted away from organizations that work directly to provide basic needs.
Thank you for all you do in our community; we appreciate each of you tremendously. If you wish to join in and participate on the Give-A-Thon day, please email our volunteer coordinator Laura Taylor at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Participating Charities include: Canuck Place, Chilliwack Bowls of Hope, Chilliwack District Resources Society, Chilliwack Hospice Society, Cyrus Centre, Meadow Rose Society, Ruth and Naomi’s, Salvation Army, Sardis Doorway, YMCA
Supporting Organizations through Volunteerism: Chilliwack Community Services, Chilliwack Society for Community Living, Rotary Clubs of Chilliwack, Wilma’s Transition House
Information was collected from the Charities with respect to donations lost and cancelled events and money will be dispersed among the organizations by % of what we earn as well as the need.
Text the word Charity to 20222 to donate $10 or $25- receiving organization, Chilliwack Charities. This amount gets added to your phone bill.
Cheques are welcome- made payable to the Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce. Tax receipts are available for all donations over $25

Chilliwack Good News
We all know what’s going on right now. We all know the seriousness of it all but we all want to know the good stories of what’s happening in our community.
We all need to hear about the good news stories that are happening. From the big press worthy stories, to the simple feel good stories that are happening around us everyday.
Chilliwack Together was created as an avenue for the Chilliwack Community to post and share via social channels how you as a citizen of Chilliwack, a business in Chilliwack, a student in Chilliwack or a community organization are DOING GOOD things through a very uncertain time. As a way to demonstrate that through all that controversy and adversity bring, POSITIVITY still shines through. The more positive we stay through this, the better we will all prevail.
Chilliwack Together is growing; we are still utilizing our social channels to like and share and create story highlights featuring the positive things in our community. You can share a post with us using the #chilliwacktogether and include the Chilliwack Together heart photo. We are also launching Chilliwack Good News- a fun video series featuring your GOOD news stories from around Chilliwack, business spotlights from businesses who have unique offerings or who have pivoted quickly and are working to serve you as best they can throughout the pandemic, as well as a message from a local politician or community leader and much more. To send us your story or share a message of positivity from you or your business, please send to Leanna at @Leanna Kemp (email@example.com)
