Event Description:
The Chilliwack Chamber & The Downtown Business Improvement Association have partnered together to bring you this Housing & Homeless information session. 
Learn the statistics on homelessness in our community and information about programs and initiatives like, the 'Housing Hub' project, that are happening in the city to help bring resolution to this issue.

Guest Speakers include:
  • Graham McMahon - Graham and his family have called Chilliwack home for the past 6 years and he currently works as the Housing Development Coordinator for PCRS.  For the last 10 months, his role as been to assess the current housing and homelessness crisis in Chilliwack, examine the existing housing resources and services in the community, and develop a coordinated systems approach that will help address the homelessness crisis in Chilliwack that includes the voices of all stakeholders, especially those with lived experience.
  • Kelowa Edel - Kelowa is from Sagkeeng First Nation in Manitoba and has lived in BC since 1984.  Since 1993 she has worked with the Sto:lo? Nation in varying capacities within the health and social services field but for the most part as a community development social worker. Kelowa is a trained facilitator providing services to a variety of communities throughout BC and has sat on many Boards in her career. Kelowa is currently the Health Director at Stó:l? Service Agency (SSA).   Her 25 plus years in previous positions have supported her work in developing a professional team of leaders, creating opportunities for bridging, building, and maintaining relationships with all segments of community, and supporting the work of collaboration and partnerships with local agencies. Kelowa is committed to professional and personal development and seeks to create this kind of culture in all the organizations she is involved with. 
  • Jennifer Hawkings - Jennifer Hawkins lives and works in Chilliwack as a Community Health Specialist for Fraser Health?an upstream, community development role that encompasses health determinants such as housing. Jen worked with PCRS and the City of Chilliwack to procure the funding for the Housing Development Coordinator; she has been part of the Housing Hub project team and managed the affiliated Tenant Engagement Project (TEP).

There will also be opportunity for Q&A to discuss the information provided.
We understand that many business owners and residents have concerns about issues in their neighborhoods, however, this will not be the appropriate venue for expressing those concerns. We invite you to come and take in some interesting information as a part of the solution.
